Welcome to Renee Van Halm's page

As you can see, I?ve joined BC Cancer Foundation?s Underwear Affair - a 10K run / 5K walk to uncover cures for cancers below the waist. It?s not only fun, but it fights prostate, colon, and ovarian cancer, among others.
My younger sister Rochelle was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer last September. The most difficult thing I have ever done is to tell her the diagnosis when she came out of the anesthetic. We really had know idea what this would mean. Her illness has shaken our small family and all Rochelle s friends and colleagues. With her amazingly positive attitude intact Rochelle has made it through 3 months of chemo and several more of recovery and is now in remission. Her daughter Kate a very mature and hardworking 18 year old, lost her dad Wade to prostate cancer just a few short years ago, and it was Kate who set the goal of fundraising for this event. An inspiring example. Costumes are her passion so an ideal connection was made. Rochelle's son Baxter is cheering on the team from London where he is finding his way in academe.
What can you do to help in our goal to contribute to finding a cure? You can donate to the team. It?s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. So please help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there!"
